I just started working there 2 months ago. My hire date was August 1st. The computers, for one, suck and are from the stone ages. It's hard to sift through the information to figure out why there's a hold on an account, for example. Nothing is ever stocked right and I'm made to feel like I can do something about it. I'm told to follow "suspicious looking" people around who might steal. It's always one thing after another. The customers are idiots. They never have their card or id out and can't understand when you ask them for it. Like we just ring it up and trust they'll bring it back?? I've actually gotten attitude about it. "Why can't I just give my phone number?" You could give anyone' s phone number and rip them off. This isn't the library. We have to verify it's YOU buying the rentals, and that you're not just gonna rip them off for good under someone else's account. Many many more things. Little to no training was given to me. I'm still trying to figure out some things, but I've done good guessing and figuring things out on my own. I don't know how much longer I can work there. Some things are fun and worthwhile, and I like being in the movie world and knowing about things in entertainment. That's why I'm still there I guess.

I stopped working at BBV because the next summer, the university offered me a job that paid more, with free housing, and guaranteed 40 hours a week.

The acct history thing took me about 6 months to completely figure it out.
The computer works for what it is though. Can you really think of a way to upgrade them cheaply? I would've rather have a raise, then new computers.

Let my family watch it, it gets misplaced, it sells, you know the drill.
The lame part of it was that it charged to my credit card, and got a $1.25 outta it, for me returning it the morn after it sold. AND THEN the next day there was a 38units Certified Field Destroy on the title...
My boss was a total Gemini (in other words kinda two faced. one day she praised you, the next she wants nothing to do with you.)
Ehh, Whatever though

I currently hold another job in the entertainment industry and I do some arty-type things, but none of that gives me benefits since I'm still trying to work out the business side of it.
Some days can be fun when I'm not pressured to sell anything. The job really is not so bad when you can just work and enjoy the day and not be pressured about selling crap that doesn't really benefit anyone unless they actually use it...
I'd also probably like it better if we got raises more often. At my previous job, we got raises every 3 or 6 months... If I stayed there, I'd be making double what I am at Blockbuster right now... I regret leaving it now, but I didn't get any benefits there- and now that I'm a college graduate and can't be on my parents' insurance, I kind of need that. I feel stuck, heh.

"But I thought you didn't have anymore late fees, whats this 1.25?"
Granted, I've been gone from Blockbuster for almost 2 years, but when I go in I still hear customers say that.
